" Keeping development costs in control is a recurring problem for many companies... Smart companies, however, know that a penny saved is a penny earned, to quote Benjamin Franklin, and keeping expenses down on the front end can go a long way toward making its internal and external customers happy...
AutomatedQA, a Las Vegas-based firm['s] aim is to offer affordable yet effective testing and development tools. The company, which has been around since 1999, recently released version 5 of its profiler and memory debugger, AQtime, which expedites and automates the application analysis and debug process, according to the company.
All of its products – AQtime, TestComplete, AQdevTeam and Automated Build Studio – are built with the user’s wallet in mind, and their prices reflect that, said company chief scientist Antanas Stoyanov. “The main advantage to the customer is the price point. It is aggressive enough to allow us to go into even the smaller [development] shops.”
AQtime 5, for example, is licensed at $599.99. Users new to the company’s products can try before they buy simply by downloading a demo version.
And, AutomatedQA’s offerings are platform-agnostic, yet another money saver in the development process. A company that is developing on .Net but outsourcing to a firm that develops on Delphi, for example, no longer will encounter the compatibility issues that have plagued projects of yore.
Put all AutomatedQA’s products together and you’ll see that they cover the entire life cycle of an application, from testing to building and beyond." - from The Control Issue by Charlene O'Hanlon
" Automated testing should be one of our primary goals: automated tests are easily repeatable and do not suffer from the tedium and boredom that is often associated with manual testing. ... TestComplete's ability to create repeatable automated tests that can test a graphical user interface and test at a granular (code) level is a powerful selling point.
... The beauty of TestComplete is the fact that it is very language agnostic, whether you are working with Delphi 5, 6, 7 or 8, Visual Basic 6 or Visual Basic .NET TestComplete offers you the same levels of support.
... The user interface is very easy to use. ... very easy to separate your tests from your live code. ... TestComplete answers the age-old TDD question: "How do I test a GUI?"
... TestComplete Enterprise offers us the ability to create 'virtual' users that can be used to stress test our web applications. ... TestComplete Enterprise's ability to support 300 virtual users per computer makes for a great testing tool too! ... The graphs and statistics offered by TestComplete are very informative and strategically lend themselves to inclusion in presentations and reports. ... AutomatedQA did not skimp with creating the tutorials and samples that accompany TestComplete. "
" AutomatedQA, a company that has been a staple name in the professional developer community for nearly five years, has come to the rescue with the latest release of their flagship measurement tool, AQtime 4.1. ... AQtime has matured into a solid profiling tool, and version 4.1 now sports a slick new interface optimized for the profiling experience. ... Professional flair peppers the UI, from the Project Assistant window pane to the Office XP-style menus and toolbars whose placement and contents can now be saved for later recall. The ability to filter results has been overhauled, allowing greater customization and on-the-fly analysis. ... In addition to the excellent standalone host, the entire product can also live within the Visual Studio.NET IDE via Microsoft’s VS.NET Add-In interface. ... The number of enhancements and new features added to the product is staggering. ... Because profilers are fast becoming one of the most important tools in a developer’s tackle box, AQtime 4.1 is one of the best profilers available today for .NET developers on the Windows platform. This latest version of AQtime has truly hit its stride, and is an amazing, comprehensive profiling package for any Win32 or .NET project. Serious developers assembling serious applications need a serious profiler, and AQtime unilaterally exceeds that requirement in all categories. From its lengthy list of must-have features to its multiple IDE and language support, AQtime is truly a polished product that, when used effectively, will polish the projects it profiles. Until another profiler can compete against AutomatedQA’s latest release, they are in the pole position for winning a glut of industry and customer satisfaction awards. Excellent job, AutomatedQA! "
" AQtime 4.3 is an advanced utility for profiling, debugging, and optimizing code in .NET and Win32 applications. You can use it to reveal performance bottlenecks, flag memory leaks, and provide extensive reports on the health of your code. The software can run either in standalone mode or integrated within the Visual Studio .NET environment. ... AQtime is a valuable tool for advanced coders and sold at a reasonable price. ... it also presents a fine learning opportunity for average programmers who need help writing efficient, tight code. "
"AutomatedQA's AQtime profiler identifies bottlenecks in your projects so you can optimize your code quickly. This product is easy to use, and has many options, profilers, and plug-ins that can help you probe and understand your application's performance from many angles. Warning: you'll be addicted to AQtime after your first use."
"In my opinion, TestComplete is a must-have tool for any software developer who believes in applying a rigorous testing methodology to his products. The ability to work with Visual C++, Visual Basic, C++Builder, Delphi, Java and .NET applications means that you're virtually getting several tools in one, and the wide variety of scripting languages means you can work in whatever language you're most comfortable with. Even if you have no interest in automated testing procedures, TestComplete's fascinating ability to 'automate the non-automatable' is sure to find a use on your desktop!"
"... there is no question that TestComplete will help your development. Even with the ramp-up time and learning curve, you can save tremendous time in the long run because you can perform the same set of tests the same way every day. That will free up your testers for usability testing and other tasks. You'll also be running a much lower risk of losing customers who were unwilling beta testers.
It should be clear that I recommend TestComplete highly, but I have only scratched its surface here. TestComplete has many other benefits and features, such as low-level event recording (for real-time UI testing), a plug-in architecture, graphic comparisons, and even new support for Java and .NET. To find out more, visit the AutomatedQA Web site."
"If you're one of the developers without a test suite, you might want to take a look at TestComplete (especially if you don't have a dedicated QA team to pound on your products). Designed especially for Visual C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, and C++Builder applications, TestComplete has an almost frightening array of features designed to let you test your work in great detail. Perhaps most interestingly, TestComplete supports both internal and external testing. That is to say, it lets you record (and then edit) test scripts based solely on the behavior of the user interface -- this is external testing, sometimes called black-box testing. But it can also (using a single module that you link in to your code) test at the source code level -- internal testing, or white-box testing."
