Quite often it is desirable to get notification of whether a macro run was successful or not. Notifications are especially useful if a macro is run automatically as a scheduled task.
Macros created with Automated Build Studio can send notifications automatically in any of the following ways:
E-mail message (the Send E-mail operation)
Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger message (the Send Message via Windows Messenger operation)
ICQ message (the Send Message via ICQ operation)
Newsgroup message (the Send News Message operation)
External programs; for instance, Net Send (the Automated
Build Studio can run these programs via the Execute DOS
Command or Execute Program operation).
To generate notifications, just add the desired “send” operations at the end of your macro or insert them into a group of operations that handle errors. Note that you can attach macro execution logs to your e-mail messages in order to make notifications more informative.
