FAQ - Miscellaneous

Q.: AQdevTeam registers BaseCommunication.dll in the system and overwrites the registration of the Borland Midas Runtime Library. We have to unregister the library and reregister Midas because we need the Borland Midas Library in full function for our projects. How can we do this?

A.: The Midas.dll can be registered with the regsvr32 utility after AQdevTeam is installed. There is no need to unregister the BaseCommunication.dll.

Q.: Why is the Beta testers group not removable?

A.: This group was created mainly to provide the Web Interface support. One of the administration features included in AQdevTeam Web Interface is the automated user registration (authentication by OS). It means that the Web Interface can be configured in such a way, that the users can register in the database themselves. The Web Interface includes an option that lets administrator(s) specify a user group to which new users will be added. Why is this option needed? The problem lies in permissions. By default, new users have no permissions. That is, new users can do nothing to the items stored in the database as they don't have even a minimal set of access permissions. Placing new users in a group solves the permission problem. The best practice is to create a group with the View permission only and use it for the automated user registration. To simplify things, we added such a group and called it Beta testers.
