AQdevTeam Features

Want to better manage your software projects? Want to better estimate product delivery dates? Want to improve bug/defect reporting for your organization? Want to automatically assign tasks to developers, QA and support technicians? Want to fundamentally streamline how your organization tracks information on any development project?

The list of issues facing a software development organization is endless and though AQdevTeam cannot help you write code, it can help you control the process - by instituting structure to an often ad-hoc process of project management.

To this end, AQdevTeam is packed with a large number of features, including:

Multiple Database Engine Support: AQdevTeam supports MS SQL Server, MSDE 2000, Interbase and Firebird, so you are free to select the engine that best suits your organization's needs. Moreover, the AQdevTeam Server application can simultaneously work with several databases, thus providing a workspace for several teams.
Advanced Windows client: AQdevTeam ships with an ultra-advanced and highly flexible Win32 client. (Example)
Fully customizable document (item) structure: Though a number of pre-defined item types ship with AQdevTeam, such as a Bug Report item type, you can create new item types on-the-fly or modify those included with the application. There is no limit to what you can track since AQdevTeam does not impose any artificial barriers to how your team works and how you interact with your user base. (Example)
Configurable workflows: Since the lifecycle of an item is crucial to the efficient management of a project, AQdevTeam allows you to graphically construct workflows that fully conform to the "schemes" prevalent in your business. And because the system tracks the entire lifecycle of an item (such as a bug report), you can easily discover the who, what, where, why and how related to the item. (Example)
Customizable forms and panels: Software projects are not set in concrete and neither should the project management system you use. As such, AQdevTeam includes a fully customizable UI, which can be altered to suit your business requirements. Administrators can easily share the layout of controls on forms among all users connected to the database. (Example)
Built-in data views and filtering. (Example)
Comprehensive security control with full user permission settings: Access to AQdevTeam's functionality can be controlled at both a high and low level. You can enforce extremely strict data access rules or open the application to any interested party. (Example)
Centralized file storage for each project: A bug report may be accompanied by a screen shot - an end-user request might be accompanied by a use case story. Regardless of the item, AQdevTeam allows you to associate ANY file to a project item. It acts as your central repository, keeping the project organized from the very first moment of its use. (Example)
Native Microsoft Visual SourceSafe support: As a front-line management tool, AQdevTeam integrates with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, thus giving your team members an easy way to check project source files as required - directly from AQdevTeam. (Example)
Always on database access: Users can use the database in both online and offline mode. If in offline mode, you can edit data as required and then synchronize your changes back to the database once you log back into the server.
Superior data communications architecture: Whether you want to use DCOM, Sockets, or HTTP to access data, AQdevTeam has a solution specifically tailored to your data communication needs.
Database access through a web browser: AQdevTeam's flexibility includes multiple ways in which to access your information - Among these is via its rich web interface. If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, you can connect to a database without any additional installations on your local computer. Other popular web browsers - Netscape Navigator and Mozilla - are also supported. (Example)
Visually construct Event and time triggered macros: With AQdevTeam, your routine and everyday tasks can be automated with ease. Using its Visual Macro Builder you can unify elementary operations such as Copy File(s), Set Variable, Download File From FTP, Send E-Mail, Compile Delphi Project, etc., into macros that will automate these mundane tasks and simplify your business processes. Even if you are not quite familiar with programming, you will find constructing macros very easy. Macros can be run manually whenever you want or automatically when data changes, when items are created or removed, at specified times or specific time intervals, or even on click events of certain controls. Generally, macros are run on the client side. But if you want to ensure that your macros are operable no matter whether your client application is loaded or not, you can easily execute them on the server. (Example)
Notification system: Using events, you can configure AQdevTeam so that it will send you or your team members notification when items are created, modified or deleted. You can even track changes in individual item fields. There are specific macros that let you send an email message directly from AQdevTeam. In addition to Email generation, AQdevTeam also includes an internal message exchange system (instant messaging).
Scripts using DelphiScript, VBScript and JScript: Automation is at the heart of AQdevTeam and its native scripting allows you to get access to AQdevTeam’s internals from your macros by adding a specific Script operation. (Example)
Macro Execution Logs: All AQdevTeam macros generate complete detail logs, regardless of whether they are executed on the client or on the server side. These logs help you isolate errors which arise during macro execution. Your macros can even post custom messages to the log.
Enforce personal responsibility: Each item (document) is associated with a user who is "responsible" for the item. For instance, a bug report can be assigned to a developer who in turn must fix the bug within a given time frame. The association can be modified at anytime during the item's lifecycle. For instance, when a developer fixes a defect, the item can be reassigned to a tester, to determine whether the defect has been fully addressed.
Direct integration with TestComplete and AQtime: Imagine if you could take your project source files from VSS, build the project, test it for memory leaks and performance bottlenecks, perform a comprehensive regression test across the entire application, log all defects and issues, and send an Email notification to all relevant teams within your company in relation to new issues discovered since the previous build. Sounds outrageous? It's not - With AQdevTeam you CAN. AQdevTeam offers native integration with AQtime and TestComplete, thus offering your development and QA teams an end-to-end product delivery and management system.
Open Plug-In Architecture: AQdevTeam was built on an open COM-based architecture, so that it can be extended as needed.

And so much more ...
