Q.: What should I do to download, install and register an AutomatedQA product I have purchased?
A.: The product download, installation and registration procedure is as follows:
- Log into your account on the ClientServices portal (https://clientservices.automatedqa.com) using your Email address, Security ID and portal login password and navigate to the product download page.
- There you can get the Registration information (User name, Company name and Registration code, which is a three-part 24-character code), the product download link and the installation password (located next to the download link, 19 characters).
- Download and install the product using the download link and the installation password.
- Launch the product and register it using the Registration information.
Please note that all of the fields of the registration are case-sensitive. Also, please make sure that there are no leading or trailing spaces.
Q.: How do I move a TestComplete license from one computer to another?
A.: In general, you should uninstall TestComplete from the computer that currently has it installed and then install TestComplete on the other computer. However, the TestComplete license agreement lets you install TestComplete on several computers, but the number of TestComplete instances that are concurrently running cannot exceed the number of purchased licenses.
Q.: Our company owns a named user license and the person who is the named user as the license holder has left the company. What should we do?
A.: In this case, you should change the license holder’s name. To do this, send a request to sales@automatedqa.com.
Q.: Should we buy a server license for floating user licenses?
A.: No. Server licenses are not needed.
Q.: How can I upgrade from a named user license to a floating user license?
A.: Please send a request to sales@automatedqa.com.
Q.: We have a computer where our application is built and tested. Should we purchase a TestComplete license for it?
A.: Yes, you should buy a license for this computer.
Note that if you need to run tests (not use the recording or editing facilities), you can use TestExecute. This is a resource-friendly utility that was designed to run TestComplete projects on the computers that do not have TestComplete installed.
Q.: How can I buy a site license for TestComplete or TestExecute?
A.: Site licenses are not available for TestComplete or TestExecute.
Q.: How are TestExecute and TestRecorder licensed?
A.: TestExecute is a “re-distributable” product and is licensed per distributed copy. This means that whether you install it for yourself or distribute it to an end-user, you must obtain a specific license for each distribution.
TestRecorder is a component which can be embedded in your application and as such, there are no royalties. You must however purchase a license for each developer who will be use the product.
Q.: When I enter the registration information into the trial version of TestComplete, the latter says the registration information is invalid and does not register. What happens?
A.: You cannot register the trial version of the product. To register TestComplete, you should download the commercial version of the product from the client services portal and then register it. The client services portal and registration information were specified in the email message that you received from AutomatedQA. If you did not receive the message, please contact our Support department at support@automatedqa.com.
Q.: We purchased TestComplete Enterprise, can we now redistribute TestExecute and TestRecorder with our application?
A.: The TestRecorder and TestExecute licenses included with the TestComplete Enterprise license are single named user licenses. They can only be used by the user of TestComplete.
You can redistribute TestRecorder only if the person embedding it in your application is one of the TestComplete license holders. If it is going to be someone else, like someone from the development team that does not have TestComplete, then you would need to buy TestRecorder separately.
To distribute TestExecute, one license of TestExecute should be purchased for each end-users that will run it.
Q.: Our company owns a named user license. Recently something went wrong on the machine where TestComplete is installed. Can we install TestComplete on another machine using the same license?
A: Yes, you can, since the licenses are machine-independent. The named user license lets you have TestComplete installed on several machines, but the licensed user can use their license only on one machine at a time.
Q.: We have installed TestComplete on a single computer so that several testers can work with it. Do we have to register TestComplete under each account?
A: No, you need to register TestComplete only once, under any of the needed accounts.
