System Requirements for TestComplete
TestComplete Supported Operating Systems
Microsoft Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions).
Microsoft Windows Vista (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions).
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions).
Microsoft Windows XP (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions).
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions).
Microsoft Windows 2000.
Important notes:
In order to install TestComplete, you must be logged on under the administrator account on the local computer. To register and use TestComplete, administrator permissions are not required.
If you use a computer that has several processors or a multiple-core processor (for example, dual-core CPU) and has Windows XP Service Pack 2, then you
must install the Windows update #896256 in order for TestComplete to be able to record user actions correctly. The update is available on Microsoft’s web site:

In order for TestComplete to be able to function on Windows Server 2008 R2, the WoW64 component is required. The Server Core installation option for Windows Server 2008 R2 does not install WoW64 by default, so, you should install it yourself.
To use TestComplete on a Windows 2000 computer under a user account, the account must have reading and writing permissions for the <Documents and Settings>\All Users folder. The easiest way to achieve this is to add the account to the Power Users or Administrators group.

256 MB of RAM.
460 MB hard disk space.
SVGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution monitor.

TestComplete Recommended System Requirements
Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz or higher.
Microsoft Windows XP or later. Also, it is recommended that you install the latest service packs and updates for your operating system.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
1 GB of RAM on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
2 GB of RAM on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
500 MB hard disk space.
SXGA (1280 × 1024) or higher resolution monitor.
Mouse or other pointing device.
Running TestComplete on Virtual Machines
Virtual machines like Microsoft Virtual PC or VMware Workstation are considerable consumers of system resources. Typically, applications run slower on them than on a desktop computer. The more virtual machines are running concurrently on a computer, the slower they will work. If you are going to use TestComplete on a virtual machine, then the computer used for testing should have a configuration that allows the computer to reach highest performance possible (higher than what is specified in the Recommended System Requirements section above).
Additional Requirements for TestComplete
.NET Application Testing
To test .NET applications, the Microsoft .NET Framework v. 1.0.3705 or later is required.
Java Application Testing
To test Java applications, you must have one of the following Java virtual machines installed on your computer:
Sun JDK (or JRE) v. 1.1.8—1.6.
MSVM, build 3309 or later.
BEA JRockit 5.0.
Load, Stress and Scalability Testing
To perform load testing of Web servers, it is recommended that your computer meets the following requirements:
Minimal Configuration:
Intel Pentium III 800 MHz.
256 MB of RAM (for 300 virtual users).
Recommended Configuration:
Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz with HyperThreading, Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz or higher.
1 GB of RAM (2 GB on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008).
Windows Mobile Application Testing
To test Windows Mobile applications on PDAs, the PDA and the desktop computer must meet the following requirements:
PDA:
ARMv4- or ARMv4I-compatible processor.
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 2003 SE, Windows Mobile 5.0 or Windows Mobile 6.0.
2 MB free space.

PC:
Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later.
ActiveSync 4.5 (on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003).
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 (on Windows Vista and later).
Connectivity between the desktop computer and the PDA via serial port, USB, Bluetooth or any other connection type supported by ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.
Microsoft Visual Studio Integration
To execute TestComplete tests from test projects created in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite ver. 8.0.50727.42 or later or Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Testers ver. 8.0.50727.42 or later are required.
To install TestComplete’s Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Integration package, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Release is required.
